Beenleigh and Mabel Park State High School Students

Future healthcare professionals had a firsthand look at the many career pathways available at Logan Hospital during a Student Industry Day held recently.

Twenty students from Beenleigh and Mabel Park State High Schools, all passionate about pursuing healthcare, joined hospital staff to explore the many opportunities right on their doorstep.

Students explored a wide range of healthcare careers through an interactive program that included a ‘day in the life of a nurse’ with Nurse Manager Tim Daelman, insights into recruitment and administration services, and an inspiring presentation from Dr Mirna Hunter on her medical journey.

They also engaged with Allied Health professionals across disciplines such as pharmacy, dietetics, speech pathology, occupational therapy, respiratory and cardiac services, and social work.

The day concluded with a behind-the-scenes tour of hospital operations, showcasing medical administration, food and environmental services, and the Safety and Response team.

Feedback showed that students left inspired, with a clearer understanding of the many career pathways available in healthcare.
