Health Literacy was in the spotlight at Logan Hospital this week

The health literacy skills of our amazing healthcare workers were put to the test this week, as they took on the challenge of cracking the Health Literacy Code.

Staff were challenged to translate common healthcare phrases such as ‘your procedure has been postponed pending clinical review’ into plain language.

Partnering with Consumers Coordinator Sarah Collins said the activity highlighted how easily healthcare language could become confusing.

“Thank you to everyone who stopped by, took part in the challenge and shared their ideas,” she said.

“And a special thank you to those who volunteered to take a health literacy idea back to their own teams to help spread the message beyond the stall.”

The day also provided an opportunity for the Digital Health Team to chat with staff about Heidi AI Scribe and learn how the technology could support their delivery of high-quality healthcare.

Sarah said there was still time to get involved in Health Literacy Month.

“Eight Mile Plains Satellite Health Centre will host a pop-up stall on 21 October from 9.30am to 12.30pm,” she said.
