If you’ve ever visited Logan’s Paediatric Emergency Department (ED), there’s a good chance you’ve met Di Crows.

Known to patients, families, and staff alike, Di has spent the past six years ensuring the ED is clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone who walks through its doors.

Before starting at Logan six years ago, the popular Environmental Services team member moved around a lot and worked in many different jobs.

“I’ve worked in a dress shop, aged care, as a barmaid, housekeeper, and laundry supervisor,” Di said. “But over the last 54 years of working in many jobs, this has to be the most rewarding one.”

Di primarily works in the paediatric ED, making sure the area is spotless and safe for patients and their carers but she’s also called to other parts of the ED to clean rooms and beds after patients are discharged.

“I love working in ED. No two days are the same, which makes it an exciting job,” she said.

What Di enjoys most, though, is the people she works with. She fondly calls them her “best mates” and says she was welcomed into the team from day one.

“When I first started in ED, I introduced myself to a nurse and said, ‘I’m Di. I’m just one of your cleaners'. “She replied, ‘No, you’re not just a cleaner. You’re a very important part of our team'.”

And she truly is. Thank you, Di, and all our hardworking Environmental Services staff across LBHS for everything you do.
