Logan Hospital's Ear, Nose and Throat Outpatient Service team
Logan Hospital’s Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Outpatient Service has been recognised as one of Australia’s leading users of the Tristel Trio Trace system - a milestone that highlights the team’s ongoing commitment to excellence in infection control.
Lead Registered Nurse Leanne Catalano said the department was proud to receive the recognition, almost a decade after pioneering the system’s introduction at Logan.
“I was part of the original team that implemented the Tristel Trio Trace system in 2015 - a pivotal moment that transformed our approach to nasendoscope disinfection,” Leanne said.
“Since its introduction, Tristel Trio Trace has significantly reduced the damage caused by traditional sterilisation methods, resulting in substantial savings in both time and costs associated with scope repairs and replacements.”
In the 2024 – 2025 financial year alone, the ENT team completed 4,966 disinfection cycles, ensuring patients continue to receive safe, efficient and high-quality care.
Leanne said the national recognition was a proud moment for the whole team.
“This award reflects not only our technical excellence, but also the pride we take in delivering outstanding care to our patients every day.”
