Expressions of Interest – Metro South Health GP Advisory Group

We are inviting Expressions of Interest from specialist General Practitioners to join our new Metro South Health (MSH) GP Advisory Group.

The MSH GP Advisory Group brings together General Practitioners and MSH clinical leaders to inform hospital initiatives, service design and process improvements that interface with primary care.

Collaboration and shared problem-solving are central to the group's approach, ensuring diverse GP perspectives are considered early in the planning process helping to develop services that are practical, high quality, safe, equitable and responsive to community needs.

The MSH GP Advisory group's insights will support the development and implementation of initiatives that are clinically relevant, practical for general practice, strengthen coordination across healthcare settings, and ultimately improve the experience and outcomes of patients.

The group will also help identify opportunities to learn, adapt and innovate – including through the use of digital solutions – to improve the way care is delivered and support better health outcomes for our community.

What you'll contribute and gain

As a member of the GP Advisory Group, you will have the opportunity to:

• Advocate for better patient safety and experience by contributing to the design of services that support safe, effective, equitable, coordinated and patient-centred care across healthcare settings.
• Represent the perspective of general practice, ensuring service planning and decision-making are informed by the realities of delivering primary care to diverse communities and responsive to the varied needs of the populations we care for.
• Identify opportunities and practical solutions by providing frontline insights into implementation challenges, risks, patient safety considerations and enablers.
• Help prioritise initiatives that address the greatest health challenges facing our community and support high-value, sustainable healthcare
• Support more connected care by informing initiatives that strengthen communication, coordination and continuity between hospital and primary care.
• Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement, including opportunities to use digital solutions to enhance care, improve efficiency and support better patient outcomes.
• Build collaborative relationships with hospital executives, clinical leaders, frontline clinicians and fellow GPs, fostering stronger partnerships across the health system.

We are seeking GPs who:

• Have experience in community general practice in the Brisbane South region.
• Can provide practical, constructive feedback on proposed initiatives and models of care.
• Consider the impact of service changes on patients, general practice workflows, continuity of care and equitable access to healthcare.
• Assist to identify opportunities and challenges of the hospital–primary care interface to aim to deliver safe, high-value and sustainable healthcare that meets the changing needs of our community."
• Are interested in strengthening collaboration and shared problem solving between hospitals and primary care enhancing our local healthcare system and are committed to improving health equity by responding to the diverse needs of patients and communities
• Represent a diverse range of general practice settings, experiences and patient populations.
• Can represent the perspectives of colleagues and are willing to seek input from, and share information with, their broader GP networks.
• Are committed to contributing respectfully and collaboratively to discussions that support better health system outcomes.

Meeting commitment and requirements

Meetings are planned to occur every two months for approximately two hours.

Meetings will be a combination of in-person and virtual attendance via Teams.

Dates will be scheduled in advance to support planning.

Your time will be remunerated at $160/hour for the duration of the meetings
