Logan Hospital Christmas Decorating Competition participants

In a holly, jolly display of Christmas cheer, wards and offices across Logan Hospital were transformed into magical scenes straight out of a holiday classic.

After hours of creativity and teamwork, the curtain rose yesterday on the premiere of Logan Hospital’s annual Christmas Decorating Competition, and what a blockbuster event it was.

The judging panel boasted a star-studded lineup, with LBHS Executive Director Anne Coccetti joined by Chief Executive Noelle Cridland, Board Chair Janine Walker, Board Member Matthew Ames, and Consumer Representative Wayne Clarris. This year’s theme, Christmas Movies, brought out the best of holiday creativity, with The Grinch stealing the show as the most popular display, closely followed by Elf.

From the sweet treats and hot chocolate (aka bribery) to hand-painted decorations, the competition’s highlights were nothing short of magical.

The most memorable moments included:

  • Hopping aboard the Polar Express for a magical journey to the North Pole
  • An entertaining dance performance from a giant snowman and Christmas tree
  • Beautiful hand-painted and handmade decorations crafted not just by staff, but also by their partners and children
  • The upside-down Christmas tree in ENT
  • The T-Rex tree in 2N
  • The amazing cardboard train in Birth Suites
  • Halloween Town and Zero and Oogie Boogies in several areas
  • Hearing about the reactions from patients, whose holiday spirits were lifted by the festive sights and sounds.

With 48 entries - the largest turnout in the competition’s history - the stakes were high, and the judges faced the nearly impossible task of choosing winners.

Executive Director Anne Coccetti said the only thing tougher than picking a winner was resisting the sweet treats on offer!

“The effort and thought put into these displays were truly incredible,” she said. “It’s a testament to the wonderful sense of community we have here at Logan.”

Congratulations to all who participated - you made the season brighter for everyone at Logan Hospital.
