Beaudesert Hospital’s Marg Wendt has been recognised for 40 years of service

After 40 years in nursing and midwifery, Beaudesert Hospital’s Marg Wendt says it’s the people, not the milestones, that have defined her career.

“I’ve been so lucky to walk alongside patients, women and families during some of the most important moments in their lives,” she said. “Not just patients, but colleagues too.”

A proud local, Marg spent much of her career at Logan, where she built a reputation for compassionate care and strong advocacy for women, babies and families.

Over the years, her career has spanned a variety of roles, from hands-on clinical care to shaping services at a broader level.

Marg established the Logan Hospital Lactation and Community Midwifery Services, and as a Principal Assessor for the Baby Friendly Health Initiative, she worked with services across Australia to uphold high standards in maternity and newborn care.

“It was incredibly rewarding to support other teams to deliver the best possible care,” Marg said. “You realise how much impact strong, consistent practices can have for families.”

Marg has undertaken leadership roles in what was at the time the Office of the Chief Nursing Officer and within Logan and Beaudesert Health Service, where an important part of her focus was developing future leaders.

“I’ve always believed in creating opportunities for others,” she said. “Seeing the team grow in confidence and step into leadership roles has been one of the highlights of my career.”

Her leadership skills were further recognised in 2023 when she was appointed Nursing and Midwifery Director and Facility Manager at Beaudesert Hospital, something she said was one of her proudest moments.

Since then, she has led Beauy with a strong focus on community and cultural connection.

Marg said her connection to Beaudesert extends well beyond the hospital walls, finding joy in the country lifestyle she calls home.

For Marg, Beaudesert Hospital is more than a workplace, it is part of her community.

Congratulations, Marg, on an incredible 40 years of service.
