There was a little extra fun in the Redland Hospital Neonatal Unit recently when staff and patients celebrated World Prematurity Day.

Nurse Unit Manager Aleria Harrold said the day helped us to recognise the pressures families face such as the unexpected length of stay and the separation from their baby.

"Simple gestures, like sharing a smile or creating positive memories, can make a lasting impact on families navigating the journey of prematurity," she said.

“This year, staff and families came together to share stories, smiles and even cookies lovingly baked by our very talented nurse, Kate.”Clinical Nurse Hannah organised a selfie frame and staff and patients had a great time. “Hannah, who is one of our nurses, organised some selfie frames and staff and patients had a great time.”  “A simple selfie or a shared laugh helps families feel seen, supported, and connected, even on the hard days."Our team works so closely with parents, and creating these positive memories really matters.”
