Smiling female clinician in outpatient ward

From tiny tots to older patients, all ages are benefitting from the care and kindness of Outpatients team member Mina.

Mina works in both paediatric outpatients and ophthalmology clinics, where she supports children, families and older patients through very different healthcare journeys.

“I love working with kids. No matter what condition they come in with, seeing them leave happy makes me feel proud,” Mina said. “Taking a blood pressure from a three-year-old and learning how to talk to them so they feel safe, and their parents are confident, is really important to me."

Mina also recently began working in ophthalmology clinics, where many elderly patients attend frequently for eye injections.

“At first, I was nervous about supporting patients through a procedure that can feel daunting.

"Injecting the eyes can be challenging for the clinician and the patient," she said. "But I’ve learned that by keeping the conversation light, talking about travel or music, I can help people relax and feel comfortable,” she said.

Mina said the thanks she received from her patients at the end of their appointments is the most rewarding part of her role.
