Forget Bennifer. Forget Brangelina. At Bayside Health Service, it's all about BrenJai!

Ask Senior Technology Officer Brendon Egan who his favourite colleague is, and he doesn't miss a beat. "Jaison."

Brendon Egan and Jaison Antony have worked together for more than 10 years and have become Bayside's unofficial IT double act.

"Everything is digital, so we’re hidden but an important part of keeping everything running,"
Brendon said.

Even small IT issues can have a big impact. The team help maternity teams reconnect fetal monitoring systems. They also make sure patients leave Emergency with their medical information.

"Nobody can actually see anything unless the computers are functioning properly. We really need those printers in ED running 24 hours, and we have spares!” they said.

Senior Technology Officer Kane Lieighton (pictured front) says he sometimes feels like the third wheel.

"I have a different role to Brendon and Jaison and look after the network side of things.

"IT is a big umbrella and we all have different roles. I look at networking , such as desk and DECT phones, networking communications and Wi-Fi," he said.

"Once our team has investigated, we may find it's not a hardward issue, but a network which needs investigation."

Despite supporting hundreds of staff across multiple sites, including Redlands Satellite Health Centre and Marie Rose, Brendon and Jaison say it's the people that have kept them at Bayside for so long.

"Everybody knows us here; it’s one of the reasons we love working at Bayside Health Service," Jaison said. "If we can't get to a job straight away, people understand there's probably a more urgent one."

Brendon said the role was about much more than fixing computers - that a big part of the job was helping staff learn simple solutions on their own, saving valuable time.

“We have to give credit to our administration officers. We’ve taught them simple processes. Now they can troubleshoot jobs to save time. We've built that rapport over the years."
