Swapping country life for the coast, Registered Nurse Eathan Martin has brought his emergency nursing experience with him to his new home at the Redlands Satellite Health Centre.
Eathan joined Bayside Health Service in February after working in emergency and medical nursing at Tweed Heads Hospital.
Now living locally, he treats everything from wounds and minor burns to bites, stings, and the occasional fishing hook at the Minor Injury and Illness Clinic.
“I’m from a little country town called Muswellbrook in the Hunter Valley, but I really like it here in Redland City," Eathan said.
“It’s still close to Brisbane, but it has a nice pace, it’s on the water, and it’s just perfect.
“I see people when they first come in, patch them up, clean their wounds, provide pain relief, and follow the whole process,” he said.
“You don’t get that working in a busy emergency department, and it’s really enjoyable seeing people smile when they leave.”
Eathan said he was also enjoying being part of the centre’s close-knit team.
“The doctors, physios, and nurses come together and work as a team. That’s probably one of the best bits.”
Eathan said he hoped to continue building his emergency nursing skills across Bayside Health Service but that he had found a good fit at the Satellite Health Centre.
“I love it here. It’s really rewarding work.”
