The Bayside Health Service team has raised $1003 for Mater Chicks in Pink despite Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
Clinical Nurse Consultant Emma Butler said although the International Women’s Day Fun Run event was cancelled due to the forecasted impacts of the cyclone, the team still came together to walk 5km and raise funds for a worthy cause.
“We were all devastated when the main event was cancelled, but it didn’t stop us from throwing on our shirts, pulling on our socks, and spending a nice Saturday morning walking 5km,” she said.
Assistant Director of Nursing Penny Wright said activities like the Chicks in Pink fun run were a great example of how simple, fun activities could strengthen team spirit.
“Getting involved in a cause like this reminds us we’re part of something bigger," she said. "We even brought our kids along and it was a lovely fun morning.
“It helps build connection, and that has a real impact on workplace culture,” she said.
These events are proudly supported by the Bayside Culture Crew—a staff-led group helping drive positive culture across the service by championing inclusion, recognition and connection.
